Neck Blaster -we finally did it!!!

The look on Bretts face says it all - he's surprised and delighted.

Soft, clean and pretty.

Neck Blaster (Gen-2 Tele neck pickup)

Until the advent of Kinman’s Gen-2 technology there was no way we could get a Tele neck pickup loud enough to balance with a Bridge Blaster which is the loudest bridge pickup we make and one that balances with a neck P-90 or Humbucker.  We recommend you scroll to the Technical & Application Info section below for important stuff you should know about this new model.

But all that’s changed now and after years of R&D we finally did it with this remarkable new Gen-2 great sounding neck pickup.  Gen-2  is generation two, a new design utilizing our Patented magnetic focusing device that increases the efficiency of the coil and concentrates the dynamics.

Volume pot should be 500k to achieve the best sonic performance.

One customer from Texas recently wrote "These Blaster pickups are off the chart excellent!! I've tried so many conventional and noiseless....I'm fortunate I did not give up the search for the best. My search is over with Kinman. In my humble personal observation, these are so good, I'm retro-fitting all my guitars with Kinman. Thanks a million for THE BEST pick-ups made!!! Ciao Terry

Normally, sonic quality and character are sacrificed in order to achieve high output.  But our remarkable Gen-2 technology produces a sound with a good degree of piano mid-tones, the hallmark of quality, from the small Tele neck model.

The sonic performance is upheld by our NEW Gen-2 Nickel-Silver cover which is engineered to look like the original but not impact in a negative way on the sonic performance of the pickup as the original 60's Fender Chromed Brass covers do.  Our cover is also arched to allow staggered magnets which produce much improved string volume balance.  Also the cover does not produce buzz when touched with fingers.  Available in 3 finishes, Chrome plated, Gold plated and buffed un-plated Nickel-Silver that will age fast for a relic look.

To kill the hum without killing the tone and preserve the original appearance has taken nothing less than a technological revolution.

Having super high output means at 23mm tall it's 3mm taller than our original Gen-1 models.  There should not be a problem accommodating it in a modern USA Telecaster but a vintage cavity must be deepened.

This pickup has Kinman's propriety Alnico low strength magnets, like all our Fender type pickups, so string pull is minimized, sustain is longer and there is less rattle and buzz from the strings crashing into the frets from excessive magnet pull.

Sounds best in a Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness.

Some people will call these noiseless Telecaster pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Telecaster pickups.  That's because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is cancelled in the pickup -and- Buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars

Number of parts in this pickup: 172
Number of parts in normal pickup: 10
Number of parts in other brand noiseless: 23

US Patents  7,022,909  &  8,791,351

Technical & Application info:

Laser engraved stuff so you won't forget.

Adjustment requirements

Please refer to >Technical >Adjust & Setup.

Cavity depth required

  • 19mm (3/4").  All Teles except vintage spec models which have 16mm (5/8") and these may require deepening by 2 or 3mm (1/8").

Connection means available

  • Prepared bare wires for soldering.
  • Kinman connector for plugging into any Kinman Goodbye-Soldering Harness.

Hook-up cable

  • Prepared and cut generously longer than necessary for Telecasters.
  • Custom lengths by request with Order.
  • 3 conductor shielded cable (suitable for series connection of 4 pos switch -and- phase reversible -and- compatible with Fender's S1 harness).

Dimensions

Output Polarity:

  • Phase reversible so can adapt to any companion pickups.

Pot & Capacitor values

  • Best with a 500k volume pot.  Will have subdued piano mid tones and twang with 250k, not recommended.
    • Our Goodbye-Soldering Harness can be configured to provide both 250k and 500k for either neck or bridge or both.
    • If you don't include a Harness, for additional $25 we will include a 500k pot and parts and instructions for our Auto-Change device with your order for when the other pickups requires 250k.
  • Tone pot is usually the same value as the volume but for a little more top end brightness can be 1meg or a No-Load.
  • Stock pots can actually measure as low as 350k.  Volume pots in our Goodbye-Soldering Harness are guaranteed to measure no less that 500k and our Gen-2 TK3 and TK4 harness incorporate a switch that changes the pot value from 250k to 500k.
  • Normal tone cap value of 0.022uF in 63 ~ 100 volt Polyester.  Smaller value reduces the severity of Treble cut, larger values increase it.

Magnet spread

  • Standard 50mm only.

Magnet Staggers

  • Normal improved Stagger to suit 7 ~ 14 inch range uniform radius fretboards including USA Custom Guitar Compound 7-1/4" ~ 9-1/2
  • Flat Stagger for specific compound radius fretboards (Warmoth 10 ~ 16 inch and Post 2010 Fender Deluxe 9 ~ 14")
  • Option to change the magnet stagger of sets and singles in our 'After-Order Supplementary Questions' email we send you.

Mounting hardware included

  • 2 Pan head mounting screws 4-40 UNC x 21mm.
  • 2 Silicon Rubber tube springs.

Cover

  • NEW Tele neck pickup has a natural hand-buffed Nickel-Silver cover (great for relicing) for extended durability and zero impact on sonic performance.  Matching mounting screws.
  • Arched top to accommodate staggered magnets for perfect string volume balance.
  • With or without Kinman logo.

We highly recommend consulting the Install Guide in Tech Info even if you think you know it all.  Kinmans' require specialized knowledge and sometimes there is updated info.  There is also a handy wiring diagram available.

We also highly recommend consulting the Adjust & Set-up page in Tech Info so you get the best out of your Kinman pickups.

** Alnico-K is a unique proprietary Alnico rod magnet developed by Kinman in 1985.  It is Alnico-5 but has 40% less string pull than Alnico-5 so sustain is longer and there is much less clatter from string crash and no Strat-itis string warble.
